The stars of ‘Housefull 5’ gave Mumbai moviegoers a thrilling surprise on Friday night, just hours after the film’s blockbuster opening.
Akshay Kumar, along with co-stars
Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan, and director
Tarun Mansukhani, dropped by a suburban theatre mid-show to interact with fans and express their gratitude for the overwhelming response.
Greeting the audience with his signature humour, Akshay asked, “Are you guys enjoying yourself?” When fans responded with cheers, he quickly added, “Then the whole credit goes to this man,” pointing to director Tarun Mansukhani. In a cheeky afterthought, he joked, “Anybody who doesn’t like any scene, catch him!”
A Record-Breaking Start for the Franchise
Released on June 6, Housefull 5 opened to a massive ₹24 crore at the domestic box office, according to Sacnilk, making it the biggest non-holiday opener for a comedy film and the highest Day 1 total in the franchise’s history. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film is already the third-biggest opener of 2025, trailing only behind Chhaava and Sikandar..
Akshay, ever grateful, told the crowd, “We’ve come here to say thank you for coming and watching our film and making it a huge success.” He also noted Abhishek Bachchan’s absence but assured fans that the full team appreciates their support.
