TIRUPATI: The demand for the formation of the
Madanapalle district, which is now part of the
Annamayya district, is gaining momentum as various opposition parties have urged the TDP led NDA alliance to fulfill it’s promise over the formation of the Madanapalle district.
In a letter addressed to Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana (BCY) founder president Bode Ramachandra Yadav reminded Naidu about the promise extended by the TDP to the people of Madanapalle in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
“The YSRCP govt sidelined the long-cherished aspirations of the people of Madanapalle and Punganur to declare Madanapalle revenue division by including the Punganur assembly constituency as an independent district. Instead Madanapalle was forced to become part of the newly formed Annamayya district during the YSRCP regime”, BCY chief lamented the un-scientific approach adopted by the previous regime with regards to the formation of new districts in the state in 2022-23.
“While the TDP chief, when he was in the opposition, promised to the people of this region that the new Madanapalle district will be formed and the entire Punganur assembly constituency (now in Chittoor district) will be merged into it once the NDA alliance comes to power in the state, now the state cabinet meeting convened on Tuesday, proposed to merge five mandals from the Punganur assembly constituency including Punganur, Sadum, Chowdepalli, Somala and Rompicherla into Annamayya district, leaving out Pulicherla with Chittoor district”, Ramachandra Yadav added and demanded the govt to review it’s decision in line with the aspirations of the people of this region.
