NEW DELHI: Banks in several parts of India will be closed on June 6 and 7, 2025, in observance of Eid al-Adha (Bakrid), as per the Reserve Bank of India's holiday schedule.
Eid al-Adha is expected to be celebrated in India on Friday, June 7, depending on the moon sighting. However, banks in Kerala (Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi) will observe the holiday a day earlier, on Friday, June 6.
The day is likely to be observed as a public holiday across most parts of the country. Schools, colleges, banks, and government offices are expected to remain closed to mark the occasion.
Bank closure details for June 6, 7 and 8
- June 6 (Friday): Banks closed in Kerala (Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi) for Bakrid.
- June 7 (Saturday): Although June 7, 2025, is the first Saturday of the month, usually a working day for banks—most banks across India will remain closed due to regional holidays for Bakri ID (Id-Uz-Zuha). However, banks in a few cities, including Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram, will remain open as usual, since the first Saturday is not a standard bank holiday.
- June 8 (Sunday): All banks nationwide will be closed as usual for the weekly holiday.
Will online banking work?
Yes. Digital banking services—including UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, NEFT, and IMPS—will remain fully operational during the holidays. Customers can continue using online services for transactions, transfers, and other essential banking tasks.
As per RBI, there are 12 bank holidays in June 2025, including weekends and regional festivals. It's advisable to check local holiday notifications or consult your bank branch for specific closures in your city.
