While the entertainment industry dazzles with glitz and glamour, the reality behind the scenes tells a different story.
Aditi Sharma has spoken out about the exploitation faced not just by actors, but by the countless support staff and crew members who work tirelessly to make every production possible. From makeup artists and cameramen to light technicians and production assistants, these individuals are the backbone of the industry, yet they often face unfair treatment, including delayed payments and poor working conditions.
In a candid conversation, Aditi highlighted the ongoing struggles of the crew members, saying, “The work is delivered properly, yet when it’s time for payment, they are blocked, ignored, or left with unread messages.
Their chats are archived, and they’re left in the dark. They’re not asking for charity – they’re demanding the money they’ve rightfully earned.” This reality affects many professionals who quietly keep the industry moving forward, but often without receiving their due compensation.
The issue extends beyond actors to the entire crew. “We shoot for almost 24 hours straight, and that’s not just for the actors,” Aditi said. “The entire crew is involved in every shot, working tirelessly to ensure the production runs smoothly. After such dedication, it’s only fair that they expect their payments to be made on time.”
Aditi expressed the injustice of their situation, saying, “When the payment time comes, all they hear are excuses, leaving them in difficult financial positions. A commitment is a commitment, and it should be fulfilled as promised.”
Aditi’s remarks resonate with the makeup artists, lighting teams, cameramen, and other support staff who work behind the camera, often with little recognition for their contributions. “We deserve fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect,” she emphasized. “The crew plays an essential role in bringing every project to life, and their hard work should be valued.”
Her call for change is a plea for the industry to address the exploitation of its workforce and ensure that everyone is treated with fairness. “I want everyone in the industry to stand together and fight for fairness in work. It’s time to treat each other with honesty and respect,” Aditi said, urging for unity.
