Fortnite is taking its latest crossover into a darker, more competitive arena as it teams up with Netflix’s global phenomenon Squid Game for a brand-new experience set to launch on June 27. Unlike previous high-profile collaborations, this one won’t be part of the main Battle Royale mode, but will instead live within Fortnite’s Creative universe - giving players the power to recreate, design, and survive the game’s infamous challenges.

Squid Game comes to creative mode

Announced during the 2025 State of Unreal presentation, the collaboration introduces Squid Game assets to the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), enabling creators to build custom islands inspired by the show's brutal games. From “Red Light, Green Light” to the iconic Glass Bridge, these fan-favorite tests of survival will now get the Epic Games stamp of approval, allowing for deeper immersion and greater authenticity.
Over the past few years, community-made Squid Game maps - such as sundaycw’s wildly popular “Octo Game 2,” have gained traction among Creative players. However, these maps were based on fan interpretation. With official tools and show-accurate designs entering the mix, creators now have more firepower than ever to bring the twisted world of Squid Game to life inside Fortnite.
What’s also fuelling buzz is the speculation around whether the collaboration will remain limited to Creative mode. Fortnite’s Competitive X account chimed in on the teaser post, sparking theories that the crossover could bleed into competitive tournaments or limited-time modes. Though nothing has been confirmed, the idea of players battling for V-Bucks - or even real money, in Squid Game-style events has fans intrigued.
There’s also curiosity around cosmetics. While Epic Games has yet to confirm the release of Squid Game-themed skins, many expect that Pink Guard outfits, contestant tracksuits, and themed emotes will soon hit the Item Shop - a familiar pattern following collaborations with franchises like The Walking Dead and Fall Guys. The crossover has already stirred mixed reactions online. While some fans hailed it as “the most peak collab to date,” others called Squid Game “overrated” or questioned Fortnite’s recent creative direction. Still, with its official rollout just weeks away, the collaboration promises to offer players a gripping new way to engage with both franchises.Whether you're in it to survive, build, or simply collect cosmetics, Fortnite’s dive into Squid Game territory marks a bold gamble - and one the community will be watching very closely.
