Vishnu Manchu's mega project starring a multi-starrer mythological fantasy drama 'Kannappa' is set for a grand worldwide release soon. However, the film's makers are currently facing a significant challenge ahead of the promotional phase.
Crucial hard drive goes missingAs per a 123Telugu report, a hard drive containing crucial unreleased footage was reportedly lost during transit from a Mumbai-based VFX company to the production house in the South. The drive was initially handed over to a man named Raghu, who then entrusted it to a woman named Charitha for safekeeping. Unfortunately, Charitha has since gone missing, complicating the situation further.
Police complaint filed, investigation underwayThe report suggests that executive producer, Vijay Kumar, has filed a police complaint, and an active investigation is underway to recover the missing footage. This unexpected setback poses a risk to the film’s final preparations and promotional activities, though the makers have yet to provide further updates.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, 'Kannappa' is based on the legendary tale of Bhakta Kannappa, an atheist hunter who transforms into a devoted follower of Lord Shiva through a journey of spiritual awakening.
The film boasts a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, and Sarathkumar, among others.
Another report from the same publication suggests that the film's final cut has been locked at a runtime of 3 hours and 10 minutes after extensive editing. Notably, even Prabhas's scenes were trimmed to maintain narrative flow, but his role remains pivotal as a divine figure who influences Kannappa’s transformation. Prabhas shares impactful moments with Vishnu Manchu and Mohan Babu, with a screen presence of about 30 minutes. Mohanlal also makes a powerful cameo lasting around 15 minutes.
The film's music is composed by Stephen Devassy.
The film will hit the silver screen on June 27, 2025.
