Malayalam actor
Unni Mukundan has come under scrutiny after his manager, Vipin Kumar, accused him of physical assault. The altercation allegedly stemmed from Vipin's social media post praising Narivetta, a recent film starring
Tovino Thomas. While only Vipin's side of the story has surfaced so far, his detailed appreciation for the film appears to have ignited the rift. In his post, Vipin hailed 'Narivetta' as “an incredible piece of craft” and lauded the growth of director
Anuraj Manohar. He also expressed heartfelt admiration for Tovino Thomas, calling his performance mature and compelling, and celebrated their long-standing professional relationship since 7th Day (2014).
Unni Mukundan reacts angrily, leading to assault claims
The manager’s social media post also praised the supporting cast, including veteran actors Cheran and
Suraj Venjaramoodu, for their contributions to the film. However, Vipin's praise appears to have been poorly received by Unni Mukundan. According to Vipin, the actor contacted him the same night and terminated his services as manager, allegedly expressing anger over the post. The situation escalated when Unni reportedly showed up at Vipin’s apartment complex, asked him to come downstairs, and then physically assaulted him in the parking area. In a video interview with Asianet News, Vipin also claimed that the actor used abusive language during the incident.

Vipin cites past mistreatment and Unni’s career struggles
Vipin went on to allege that this was not the first instance of mistreatment. He stated that despite enduring verbal abuse in the past, he had stayed in the role out of a sense of professional duty. According to him, Unni’s behavior had become increasingly volatile in recent times, possibly fueled by the lukewarm response to his latest film 'Get-Set Baby,' and the apparent shelving of his planned directorial debut, though the project's announcement still remains on the production house's Instagram page.
Vipin calls post professional; police probe ongoing
Vipin clarified that his endorsement of 'Narivetta' was not personal but part of his promotional responsibilities. He emphasized that Unni Mukundan's reaction was disproportionate and unprofessional. “Unni did not like it. He called and fired me, and later came and assaulted me,” Vipin alleged. As of now, Unni Mukundan and his representatives have not issued a public statement regarding the allegations. The matter is currently under police investigation.
