Malayalam cinema is all set to step up the superhero genre in a grand way with ‘Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra’, the seventh production venture from
Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.
The first look poster and title of the much-anticipated film were released recently, unveiling a new cinematic universe that aims to captivate audiences with its scale and vision.
Directed and written by
Dominic Arun, the film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen K. Gafoor in the lead roles, with Kalyani donning the role of a superhero for the first time in her career.
Dulquer Salmaan took to his Instagram handle to share the first look poster and penned a note that read, “Unveiling Lokah — a world where legends come alive. Chapter One: Chandra. #Lokah #BuildingWorlds #theyliveamongus Stay tuned for updates.”

Kalyani as superhero
‘Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra’ introduces Kalyani Priyadarshan in a never-before-seen superhero avatar, marking a bold departure from her previous roles. The first look poster showcases her alongside Naslen in an intense and visually striking frame, setting the tone for an epic narrative. This marks the beginning of a full-fledged Malayalam superhero cinematic universe titled ‘Lokah’, a project being mounted on a large scale with ambitions for multiple chapters.
Technical brilliance
Backed by a stellar technical team, ‘Chandra’ boasts cinematography by Nimish Ravi and music by Jakes Bejoy, both known for their impactful work. Chaman Chacko handles editing, while Banglan and Jithu Sebastian lead production and art direction, respectively. The visual scale of the film is further enhanced with stunt choreography by international action director Yannick Ben.
The production is managed by executive producers Jom Varghese and Bibin Perumballi, with additional screenplay contributions from Shanti Balachandran. The costume design by Melvy J and Archana Rao adds flair to the superhero aesthetics as seen in the first look poster. Adding to the excitement is the presence of actors like Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, and Shanti Balachandran in pivotal roles.
