Sunita Ahuja blames Govinda's 'circle' for derailing career: 'Tumhe aage badne nahi denge ye log'

Sunita Ahuja, the wife of Govinda delivered a fiery and unapologetic critique of the actor's inner circle, accusing them of stunting his career. The 'Hero No 1' actor who was on top of his game in the 90s, hasn't had a major hit at the box office in recent years. "Why has Govinda not been seen in 17 years? The problem is that his circle, is a wrong one."Speaking to The Powerful Humans, Sunita criticised and squarely placed blame on what she called a “wrong circle” surrounding the Hero No. 1 star. She went on to reveal, "Today my fights with him are because I can't lie and I do not appreciate flattery."Without taking names, she took shots at his four-member team saying, "Today he has four people - a writer, musician, secretary and a lawyer friend. They are of no use. They only say "wah, wah!" If he makes music, they say "wah, wah... kalam kar diya." They should tell him the truth. When I tell him the truth, he gets upset."Sunita went on to say that while the world has moved into the era of OTT and evolving storytelling, Govinda continues to cling to the nostalgic style of the 1990s.“I tell him the 90s era is over. It is 2025. Look at what’s working on Netflix and digital platforms. But he stays with his ‘wah, wah production’,” she remarked.According to her, the problem isn’t a lack of talent or relevance—Govinda remains a beloved figure in Indian cinema—but rather, it’s his unwillingness to break free from a feedback loop of empty praise and outdated strategies.“I told him, change your circle. For as long as you have these 4–5 people, they won’t let you go forward,” she warned.Govinda, a superstar in the 80s and 90s with iconic hits like Coolie No. 1, Partner, and Dulhe Raja, has made only sporadic appearances in recent years.
