We all know Shah Rukh Khan is a charmer who knows how to make an everlasting impression with his mere presence. However, did you know that Netflix’s CEO, Ted Sarandos, was captivated by his charisma and humility? In a recent interview, Ted opened up about his equation with SRK and talked about the fun time he had with him.
Ted Sarandos on his bond with Shah Rukh Khan
In his recent interaction with Nikhil Kamath, Ted was asked to name his favorite Indian celebrity, and he named Shah Rukh Khan. For the unversed, in 2018, Shah Rukh Khan was one of the first celebrities Ted met as soon as he came to India ahead of the release of the OTT platform’s first Indian series, ‘Sacred Games.’
“Early in coming to India, I met Shah Rukh Khan right away. He hosted a very nice dinner for me, and we hit it off immediately. I’ve come back since, with my wife, and we’ve had nice times together. We visited each other in Los Angeles when his son was in school. So, having dinner with Shah Rukh Khan in India is much different than having dinner with him in Los Angeles,” Ted shared.
Ted Sarandos on Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Heeramandi
As the interview moved forward, Ted also spoke about the OTT platform’s collaboration with renowned Indian filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the series ‘Heeramandi’. Ted described the series as one of the most creatively interesting projects he has ever worked on in India.
“He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) came in with his very big vision, almost like it was a dare. I dare you to make this, it’s so big. And remember, he’s a cinema legend. So, the idea that he was gonna make a TV show is almost unheard of. I think he came for us to say no. And when we said yes, it was a complicated production,” he mentioned.
