Anita Date shares why people don't recognise her
Anita Date was spotted sipping coffee at a city cafe after her interaction with the students at an acting workshop. Dressed casually in her jeans and kurti Anita said, I am glad that I came to interact with the new generation of actors in city.
Anita shot to fame as Maina in the Rani Mukerji starrer Aiyya. Speaking about her Bollywood career post her debut, she says, Post Aiyya, I got a number of offers to do comedy films.

However, none of them were interesting. Besides, people dont recognise me as I am not as dark in complexion as Maina. Not many are aware that the role of Maina was initially supposed to be done by Kalki Koechlin. For some reasons Kalki opted out and Anita stepped in for the role.
Anita shares, From top to bottom everything used for Maina was fake. In fact I was asked to lose weight for the role and later all the padding was done to get that typical figure. Teeth were also fake. These days when I am approached to do some film I first tell them that I dont look like Maina. I am an actress of serious genre. Merely the brainless comedy is not my cup of tea, she says. These days Anita is excited about the Girish Karnads play which she is working on.
We in Maharashtra are not used to see the plays of other states. Therefore though we wont connect with Bangalore much but Maharashtrian people will definitely connect with Pune. The play is about the life style in the cities like Bangalore where the basic culture of city is changing. The casting is so god that we are enjoying working on the play. We will be around 20 people on stage. Radhika Apte, Vibhavari Deshpande, Jyoti Subhash, Ashwini Giri and others will be a part of the play.
