Tribal communities honoured by CM Sai at ‘Gaurav Diwas’
Raipur: CM Vishnu Deo Sai bestowed Samman Nidhi upon Baiga, Gunia, and Sirha communities during Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations on Friday.
The govt announced plans for Akhara construction in tribal villages for religious activities, alongside installing statues of tribal martyrs at designated locations. The families of tribal rebellion martyrs and freedom fighters received recognition, the CM said at the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas programme in Raipur.
He acknowledged the contributions of former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards tribal welfare.
Commemorating Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda's 150th birth anniversary, chief minister Sai announced annual financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for Baiga, Gunia, and Sirha communities under the Chief Minister's Samman Nidhi.
During the ceremony, CM Sai recognised tribal community leaders and freedom fighters' families. He distributed awards to tribal painting competition winners and released publications including an 'Atlas' on Forest Rights Act, 'Shauryanjali' calendar, and a book on 'Halba Janjati Ki Vachik Paramparayein' by the Tribal Development Department.
Tribal Development Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam highlighted Prime Minister Modi's commitment to tribal development through various schemes.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had inaugurated development projects worth Rs 6,600 crores for rural areas for tribals, at the inaugural function in Jamui, Bihar, marking Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda's 150th birth anniversary. Prime Minister Modi addressed nationwide audiences.
